Long time listener, first time caller…

As my default icon suggests, I often go sailing when the water isn't hard, and the sun doesn't set at 5pm. Last year I managed to get out for around 800nm during our way to short season.

I'm principally a daysailer, and single hand my 25ft sailboat. I'm on a tidal river that extends around 60nm, but with “obligations“ I seldom go too far upriver.

From the cockpit, this is an indicative photo from last year, but could have been anytime in the last few. 6kn boat speed, well trimmed, on a beam reach.

When I do get to out at dusk, like the photo below, balancing anchoring out of the wind with the bugs associated with the lack of wind is a challenge

And this year I did a few runs at night, after a hamburger run up river. The Hamburger run takes around 40nm, so it's a bit of a slog.
