Photos: Three for the Memories from 2024
Jan. 2nd, 2025 11:37 pmThese are the three pictures I selected as most memorable (not the most aesthetically beautiful or technically ept) from 2024. Also, there is no 2024 tag available yet.
Eclipse Pictures

We drove down to Greenup to view the eclipse, and I took pictures of how the sun makes crescents instead of discs with the pinhole effect through tree leaves. This is a long view of the sidewalk when the crescents are hair-thin.

The 17-year periodical cicadas emerged en masse. Many cicadas emerged around the forest garden. This isn't even the best picture I got of them -- I have masses of them shedding their skins and hanging in the dark like strange angels. But I didn't have time to upload those, so this is what I have online for now.

Photos: New Shed

We bought a new garden shed and installed it in the south lot. This is a closer view of the shed from the house yard, not far from the border between house yard and south lot. It looks nice and homesteady. :D

If you wish to see the slightly larger batch that I started with before whittling down to these three, that post is here.

Date: 2025-01-03 06:02 pm (UTC)Interestingly the cicadas did not really appear in our area. In fact, a local news blog even mentioned it in their 2024 wrap-up as one of the disappointments of the year.
That is such a nice looking shed! There's a farm store close to us and I've driven by their various shed models many times. I've often thought how nice some look as a getaway/crafting sort of addition to a house. We're in an apartment so it's not for us, but it fires the imagination 🙂
Yes ...

They had all sizes, from tinier shedlets to big ones for barns, garages, etc. Some were big enough to use as small houses!
