2025: the good, the bad, and the life-changing

This represents the good events that happened in 2025. It is a photo I took at a concert in Apri.





This represents the bad events that happened in 2025. There were many leaks in the upstairs neighbors' apartment and one night the ceiling in my sons' bedroom caved in. The landlords are really, really shitty who did nothing. I had a minor meltdown and ended up abandoning my family and going to a motel for a few days. I still have a serious auditory trigger of dripping water.



But the biggest change was getting a job after being a stay-at-home mom for 10 years. I genuinely believed that no one would ever hire me, that I was un-employable, that I was useless, but I was wrong. This is a cropped picture of the headshot I sent in for my badge. It has been incredible stressful but also incredibly rewarding and has truly changed my life. And done a lot to improve my mental health.

I don't know why landlords allow this to happen as it simply devalues their property!

Yeah, it's really bad. Lights in two of our rooms don't work and they haven't fixed it for months. I wanted to move when our lease was up but my sons' father did some research and there isn't any place cheaper in our area (for the kids' schools). If there was better maintenance somewhere, it would be worth it for me but you can't really know that until you move there and moving is expensive with kids and I don't want to take the risk the maintenance is worse :(

OMG about the ceiling collapse! I assume no one was hurt but that is incredible that the landlords didn't take immediate action. However costly a repair it might be at first, delaying will just make it worse.

That is wonderful about your job. Job hunting after 10 years is such a daunting prospect, especially because the processes have changed so much. Glad you had this to celebrate!

Yeah, they said it didn't qualify as an emergency but water was pouring into our apartment in the middle of the night.
